London, 1666: Amethyst Goldsmith makes dazzling jewelry, but her future isn’t nearly as bright as the pieces she creates. Though custom dictates she wed her father’s apprentice, her heart rebels against the match. In mere days Amy will be condemned to a stifling, loveless marriage, and she sees no way out—until the devastating fire of 1666 sweeps through London, and tragedy lands her in the arms of a dashing young earl who knows a diamond in the rough when he sees it…

Colin Chase, the Earl of Greystone, has his future all figured out. He’s restoring his crumbling castle and estate to its former glory, and the key to its completion is his rich bride-to-be. • A great historical romance

    By Jifieurididi
This is a well researched historical romance with an engaging story line. Not too many steamy scenes so good for teen readers as well. I highly recommend it.

    Great read!
  • A little boring

    By EstelaDR
The book is pretty much a description of a castle. It described it very well it even make me do a research to see its true. If you are looking for a funny romantic story this isn't for you. The best part is when Colin and Barbara pranks Pricilla. I almost stop reading it at the beginning pages. The plot was better by page 1000 but I didn't finish it, I just couldn't take it anymore.
  • Wonderfully Refreshing

Yes, I really enjoyed this story and almost wanted to stop in the beginning pages. Oh! Yes,this novel had excitement, joy,a romantic twist, and some fun family times. It is so welcome to see more Arthur's bringing family time in their writings.

If you have never read a book by Lauren and Devon Royal, prepared be entertained. They do a great job writing historical romances that you will find quite engaging. The characters are well-developed and I found myself rooting for them early on in the book. A fun read if you are looking for a good romance.
  • Jealousy, propriety or true love

    By Jps621
Will jealousy and propriety win out over true love? This is a beautifully edited version of Amethyst with the steamier scenes removed. Although I enjoy the steamier scenes; hence the 4 star rating, I did truly enjoy this book and it was nice to be able to honestly tell my students what I was reading. I received a free review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
  • Great book !

    By Charming Rose
This is the first book I've read by Devon Royal. I've read a lot of Lauren Royal though so I know I'm always getting a great read. I love how this is able to be read by all ages since it doesn't have the steamy scenes like her book Amethyst has. I love how both Amy and Colin both have obstacles to overcome if they want to be happy. I received a free review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
