I decided to become a writer at the age of eight, after winning a "Why My Mother is the Greatest" essay contest and having my entry published in a major newspaper. Seeing my words in print was a thrill! But everyone told me it's too hard for novelists to get published, so after college I spent fourteen years as the CEO of my own jewelry store chain before writing my first book. A mistake? Maybe...but my first heroine, Amethyst, was a jeweler, so at least I took advantage of that wise old saying, "Write what you know." And I learned a good lesson: Don't let other people tell you what you can or can't do!

I write humorous historical romance mostly set in England and Scotland in the 17th and 19th centuries (Restoration and Regency periods). I've been oh-so-lucky to see my books hit bestseller lists all over the world, including the New York Times and USA Today lists, and win awards including the Golden Quill and Booklist's Top 10 Romance of the Year, making this second career a real dream come true. I live in Southern California with my family and a constantly shedding cat, and I still think my mother is the greatest!

  • Intriguing and steamy

    By Jps621
These books are a pleasure to read. I love historical romance especially when they are as well written as these. All three stories are wonderful, a chance at true love. I hope you enjoy them ever bit as much as I have. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
  • Historical Romance at its best!

    By Teri Donaldson
The Chase Family series is one of the best out there to read. I really love that these books in the Jewel Trilogy have now been packaged together. Amethyst is the story of Amy and Colin. Emerald is the story of Caithren and Jason and Forevermore is the story of Clarice and Cameron. Each story centers around strong women and charming men. It is so much fun that adorable children find their place in the stories. Each story made me laugh, cry and most of all sigh with contentment. Both Lauren Royal and her daughter Devon have become two of my favorite authors. The stories are always fabulous and when I reach the last page, I am ready for the next in the series, which I hope continues for a very long time. I agree with another reviewer, this is historical romance at its best!
